On a call with my client today and I always start off by saying
Hello (insert name here) how are you today (regardless if it is the first or 99th person)?
I wait for them to answer and I always answer honestly when they ask me the same in return.
My answer is always that I’m doing great. And it’s no bullshit either.
Some may laugh it off and think I’m just selling something. Yet, nope. I’m doing great. Why? Because it can always be worse. Trust me. My life is not the worst life ever, yet I know it can be worse.
So the old assessment of a pessimist versus an optimist being: there is a glass of water and it is filled halfway, do you say the glass is half empty or half full?
Me, I say, the glass is holding exactly half the amount of liquid it is designed to hold.
